The 2018 Subaru Outback is the mid-size SUV alternative designed to help you get more enjoyment out of life’s adventures, both big and small. The Subaru symmetrical full-time AWD system is complemented here by X-MODE† for even more rugged capability over the toughest of roads. The ultra-strong platform, low centre of gravity and refined suspension system combine to create the car-like handling that makes paved roads equally enticing. There are two different SUBARU BOXER engines to choose from, both of which deliver potency, efficiency and ultimate satisfaction. The Outback also features impressive refinement, incredible utility, generous passenger space and dynamite infotainment systems to make even the most adventurous drive feel unexpectedly civilized. For the new model year, a more aggressive look on the outside and more refinement on the inside help make the Outback more desirable than ever.
Curb appeal, all-road credentials
Sporting a redesigned front bumper, lower front grille, fog light covers and rear bumper, the 2018 Subaru Outback is more dynamic and rugged looking than ever before. The muscular yet streamlined design incorporates sleek aerodynamics for better fuel efficiency and stronger construction for added safety and toughness. The design is bold and purposeful, appropriate when you consider the Outback, where it comes from and where it’s capable of taking you.
Roof Rails with Swing-in-place Crossbars
To make the most of the cargo-carrying capacity of the Outback, this roof rack system with swing-in-place crossbars also features cargo tie-down hooks. The rear crossbar can be shifted towards the back of the vehicle to better support longer items, such as canoes or kayaks. These roof rails are standard on all models except the Premier, which comes equipped instead with a sleeker, lower-profile set of roof rails. Side sill steps provide a firm base upon which to load all manner of tricky items.
This dynamic feature helps make loading and unloading the Outback quick and easy. The button on the key fob activates the power tailgate, which also features auto-closure and will reverse direction if it encounters any resistance. The tailgate also has a stop-position memory function for parking garages with low clearance or for when you’re hauling long objects on the roof.
This large power sunroof slides to let the light in or tilts open to circulate fresh air throughout the cabin. When fully open, it provides a fantastic view of the sky for everyone to enjoy. For particularly hot or sunny days, the manual sunshade slides across to provide shade.
Generous Ground Clearance
With 220 mm of ground clearance, the Outback features genuine go-anywhere capability. What’s more, the long-travel suspension system helps make quick work of rough roads, unpaved surfaces and deep snow. These qualities give the Outback the ability to tackle the most challenging of driving conditions with supreme confidence.
Aluminum Alloy Wheels
The new Outback is available with three different aluminum alloy wheel packages The Touring trim level features 17-inch alloy wheels with 5 double-spoke design. The Limited trim level showcases new 18-inch alloy wheels in high-gloss silver with 10-spoke design. And the Premier model receives 18-inch dark grey and machine-finished alloy wheels. All versions of the Outback ride on Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport tires perfectly suited for on-road and off-road adventures.
